I think we need to back this all the way up to first grade. I met Kelsea through her sister Kendra and we all just instantly hit it off. From sports to Spice Girls and who each of us were going to marry from NSYNC, we had an idyllic childhood. Fast forward to 2018 and Kelsea reaches out to me that she's getting married and needs some assistance. First, I'm flattered and honored that she would utilize me and secondly, thrilled because after high school we all moved on in our lives, and lost contact as most people tend to do. I absolutely did not hesitate to assist Kelsea in reaching her wedding dreams. We sat down a handful of times through out the process with her and her fiance, Kygh. Discussed details, budget, look, everything. As winter approached our in-person contact switched over to email and FaceTime, but the energy and excitement of her special day never faded.
What I loved about working with Kelsea not only as a friend but as a bride, is that she's extremely organized. It made discussing ideas and vendors so easy. The "Perfect Bride" for any wedding planner. There were a handful of ideas that Kelsea ran by me, "would this look good?" or "should I do this?", I merely encouraged her to go with those ideas because the day was about her and Kygh and that was what was most important. As for all other brides reading this, if you're unsure about a trend or a color palette, go with it. Don't hesitate for one minute OR consult with your wedding planner. We want the day to be your vision.
As the wedding weekend approached, we were down to the wire making tiny adjustments. I was contacting vendors to ensure final payment dates, and amounts. While Kelsea enjoyed an wonderful bachelorette party and bridal shower.
Due to our timing of the entire weekend, Tyler and I left to head to the venue for the rehearsal the day before. It was a smooth rehearsal and the family left to enjoy a lovely BBQ, while Tyler and I retreated to our Airbnb to go over the following day's agenda and get to bed early. The following morning we got ready with great speed, got coffee - a must - and headed over to see the bridal party and await the groom's party arrival. Kelsea looked so relaxed that morning, even among the ensuing chaos of any wedding morning. She looked radiant and confident as she prepared her heart and mind for the next step in her and Kygh's relationship. While the ladies got hair and makeup done by Refeyeance 4 Makeup & Hair, Tyler and I changed out all of the hangers on the girl's dresses and hung them neatly in a beautiful alcove in Kygh's family's home ready for Holyn, from Kindred Spirit Photography. I then moved onto organizing the the gifts Kelsea gave her girls, their jumping broom, flowers from Gillepsie Florist for Holyn to capture in her detail photos.
Side note: I absolutely loved working with Holyn, not only was she easy to run ideas by but she was so helpful when I had to run down to make sure things were running smoothly with the guys. I am pleased to recommend her as Preferred Vendor for any couple in Indiana and Illinois. Link to her website is on my Preferred Vendors page. Check her out!
Once Kygh and his groomsmen arrived, the whole house was bustling with activity. Girls finished their hair and makeup, while the guys got into their tuxes and watched a football game. Everyone was moving around and in between all of it, Kygh and Kelsea were able to have quiet moment to exchange love letters and pray before they left separately for the ceremony.
As they shared that moment, Tyler and I left for the venue to ensure things were running smoothly over there. Let me just say, the gardens at Avon Gardens in Avon, IN are absolutely lovely. So many vibrant colors and the pavilions where the reception was held, was gorgeous. The venue staff definitely have their work cut out for them to host a multitude of weddings throughout the year.
Once the respective parties arrived, things really got going. The ceremony went well, and behind the scenes, Indy Fresh Catering and Grin and Booth It arrived to setup items for the reception.
Once the ceremony was over, the guests retreated to the reception area for a lovely cocktail hour and DJ Connection kept things rolling. As we moved later into the evening, the wedding party made their arrival and a huge round of applause for Mr & Mrs Kygh Murff could be heard across the grounds. The couple and family partied the evening away, while Tyler and I ensured that Kelsea & Kygh had drinks and food replenished for themselves and their wedding party as they mingled and danced.
As I look back on that weekend, I don't just feel a sense of pride but mostly honor that I was able to reconnect with Kelsea and her family, but also be a helping hand in a very momentous occasion.
